Vision SundaySermon by: Pastor Harrison Chokka The month of September brings new things for many. Whether it’s a new school year, heading back to work, or enjoying the changing colours of Fall, September is a great time to reset and think about the next year ahead. September has always been a significant month for Kingdom Church; this is when our church officially opened in September 2018, and the time of the year where we cast vision for the next season. For those of you that weren’t around last year, our vision last year was to BUILD (you can watch the entire series here). And boy, did we build during that season! We had a record number of Kingdom Crews and our team grew with more people serving than ever before. But the biggest way we built was by moving into our new church home. Although we have done a lot of building in the last year, God isn’t quite done with us. Proverbs 29:18 All our lives need vision. The Proverbs application of vision doesn’t talk about our personal plans to grow our business, book a vacation away, or save for a new house, but of the need for a divine revelation from God. We need direction from God, because if we don’t have that, we’re running wild. Our vision for this next year is taken from Luke 5: 1-11, which can be found in the New Testament. Luke 5: 4-5 Our vision for this next year is DEEPER. God is calling us to go a little deeper, to be in relationship and communion with others but most importantly with Him. Depth is the foundation for growth, and while we all have the capacity to go deep with God, how do we grow deeper in our walk with Jesus? One simple word: OBEDIENCE. Obedience is the starting point in our walk with Jesus, not the finish line. The depth of our relationship with Jesus will go hand in hand with our obedience to Him and is the prelude to receive all the blessings God has for us. What are some simple practices that can help us get deeper with God? Pastor Harrison mentioned three things: 1. Get into God’s Word, The Bible. This is where God speaks to us the most. God’s word will continually reveal new things to us in different seasons of life. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 2. Prayer. Prayer should not be our last resort, but rather our first response. Make it part of your daily routine to pray. We want to help you pray, and so for the first time ever, we’re doing 21 days of prayer IN-PERSON. We’ll be meeting daily at the church (#170, 175 Carleton Drive in St. Albert) from 6:30 - 7:30 AM, Monday to Friday. You can come for the full hour or drop in as needed. 3. Small groups (or as we like to call them, Kingdom Crews). God is calling us to either join a small group or create our own. We have a new season of Kingdom Crews starting next week. You can sign up after church this weekend or on our website! We believe God is calling us all to go deeper in this next year. The deeper we go, the more we see God within ourselves and the more that is revealed to us about who we are as a child of God. Luke 5:10-11 Life is short, but eternity is real. Because of that, we’re going deeper this year! God has something better for all of us. Our goal is to fill heaven! Thank you for being here!
